So what’s this “planning” stuff all about anyway? I realize that some stuff (Tomek’s brilliant history, par example) sorta requires some forethought.

How do the rest of us “plan” a book? I know we’ve gone around and around on this before but it’s like one of those burrs the dogs pick up in the bog.
