The tabletalk ricocheted from Vikings and their ships as well as their ubiquity in European history*, then on to MacGuffins, Westerns, the Coen Brothers, the late Kirk Douglas, and why you shouldn’t drink that cider that used to be regular cider but has gotten fizzy.
*the name of the (semi-legendary) Viking who founded Russia, which I couldn’t remember last night, was of course, Rurik.
