Great discussion re: nature, care, feeding, usefulness (necessity?) of MacGuffins last night took us from Bronze Age Greece through 13th Century France and Britain, 19th century Africa, England & Scotland in the early days of George V, right up through San Francisco in the 30s. I think Oz might have slipped in there somewhere (as in Munchkinland not as in “g’day Bruce” though the jolly jumbucks in the swagman‘s tuckerbag might qualify).
